The North showing area is underlain by Devonian to Permian sedimentary and volcanic rock of the Stikine Assemblage. A stock of Late Devonian McClymont Plutonic Suite intrudes the stratigraphy in the showing area. Intrusive rocks of Triassic to Eocene age also intrude the strata.

The North and South Zone mineralization is characterized by finely disseminated and fracture controlled sphalerite and galena, localized in two distinctive limestone units, near their contact with a fine grained syenitic unit referred to as intermediate subvolcanic. The North Zone (formerly referred to as the North and South prospects) consists of exposed lenses or zones stratabound lead zinc silver mineralization that appear to dip to the west.

Mineralization occurs as finely disseminated pyrite, galena and sphalerite occur with garnet, epidote and chlorite limestones interbedded with intermediate subvolcanic rocks and various clastic sediments. Trace chalcopyrite is also present. A 1988 select sample of mineralization exposed at surface yielded sample assays of up to 890 grams per tonne silver and limited drilling reportedly returned up to 18.0 meters of mineralization that averaged 44.9 grams per tonne silver, 0.88 per cent lead and 2.60 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 18129). The contacts between the various units are often brecciated and can exhibit pyrite and arsenopyrite mineralization.

Work History

The only previous work on the Ticker Tape claims was carried out in 1987. The claim group then consisted of the Ice 1 to 5, 7 and 9 claims as well as Ver 3 and 4, New 7 and 8. The program involved prospecting, geologic mapping and geochemical sampling on New 7 and 8. During this phase the King Vein was discovered with a high grade grab sample value of gold. The North and South Zones with high silver-lead-zinc values were also discovered. Follow up work included establishing a grid over the North Zone on which VLF-EM and magnetometer surveys were conducted. The mineralized limestones were then drilled. Seven holes were fanned from a single set up for a total of 408 metres of drilling. Silver values ranged from 2.0 g/t to 219.0 g/t and gold values ranged from 0.01 g/t to 7.30 g/t (Assessment Report 18129).

In 1988, Ticker Tape Resources and Cheryl Resources completed 537.8 meters in four holes from two drill sites on the North zone and five holes totalling 452.8 metres from a single site on the King Vein. A total of 270 soil samples were collected.

In 2006, Candev Resource Exploration optioned the claims that contained the King Vein and the North and South zones (Assessment Report 29739). No new exploration work was completed.

In 2009, Garibaldi Resources conducted prospecting and rock sampling on the North zone. The South zone, defined in 1988 by Ticker Tape, was included as part of the North zone in the Garibaldi program. The South zone is about 300 metre southeast of the North zone and 100 meters north of the King Vein.
